Abby’s Speech

Hello, and welcome staff, students, parents, and families.  I would love to give a special shout out to Mrs. Dietz, and Mrs. German.

I’m going to be sharing 3 important stories that mean a whole lot to me. These stories have made me who I am today, and who I have become. These stories are a little bit personal but I wanted to share them with you all.

My first story.

I was starting Pre-K at Rock Creek Valley, I didn’t come to Daly, yet. I’m so glad that I got to that school, I got to experience being at a school exactly like me.  I was able to meet so many friends there, who were like me. Everyone there had some sort of Hearing Aid. I haven’t seen my friends from Rock Creek Valley in a while, but I remember them and the memories clear. In Pre-K we did fun things, one day we had to bring in something that started with the letter A. I can’t remember what I brought but I brought something in. In the winter when it snowed, we went outside and played in the snow.

My second story.

I was starting at Daly, and I was a little shy, of course now I’m not shy. One of my favorite teachers here is Mrs. Walton, she was my first teacher here, she is my idol. But, when I started off at Daly, My best friend Abigail, she was at a daycare that I was at, near the school. We had been friends since we were about 3-4 I can’t remember the EXACT year. We didn’t exactly like the same things but we at least knew something was in common. Whenever I had a rough time at home or at school, I went to her. I told her about everything. She never had a problem listening to all my complaining.

My second best friend is Eva, she listens to my complaining and she’s my sidekick, I stick with her and she sticks with me. Sometimes she can get annoyed but.. I still complain to her.. She complains to me.  So it all works out. I won’t forget any of my best friends.

My third story.

I wasn’t exactly a social kid. But I didn’t hang out with a lot of people either. But every so often I would get made fun of, whether it be, because I wasn’t skinny, or because I had some “weird” thingie in my ear, or sometimes  because of the way I acted, I was a crazy kid. But it was a rough way getting up the hill, but eventually I got up the hill, with the help of my friends, and family.

I wanna thank my other favorite people in the world, my mom, Mrs. Zito, she has helped me throughout the years, Ms. Aunts. Ms. Aunts works with me. She, met me in 4th grade but I feel like i’ve known her for longer. Thank you for your help!! I really love the things you’ve helped me accomplish.

Looking into the future I want to study ASL, (American Sign Language) It’s a part of me, I use it all the time. I want to be a Deaf and or a Hard of Hearing teacher or something of that sort.  I want to go to Gallaudet University, it’s a Deaf and Hard of Hearing college, I’ve toured it once with my sister. It was such a great experience. Everyone there used ASL and I learn every day with my sister.
I want to thank you all for coming today and supporting us as we progress in our schooling.

Teacher

Teaching is an important job that the whole world needs. Without teaching there is no education to be taught. People are clueless, they don’t know how to make anything, they wouldn’t be able to make the newer technology, cars wouldn’t exist without education. Every worker in the world has some sort of education whether it be a high education or a low education, not every person has to have a master’s degree and degree’s that high. Some people are perfectly fine with just having some knowledge, not necessarily a degree in something.

You need a Bachelor’s degree to become a teacher. Now you may be wondering what does a teacher does, a teacher helps children academically and they create plans to help their students improve academically, they also see what their students weaknesses are and their strengths are so that they can plan out what to give their students. They tell their students parents how they are improving or any difficulties in the classroom, academically or even behavior wise. Also they enforce his/ hers rules in their classroom, they lay down laws.

The pay of an average elementary school teacher is $55,000 a year.  Teachers are paid this money to help meet their family’s needs. All this money is what they get for an average school year.  First year teachers get less money than teachers that have been a teacher for a while.  You also can earn more money by taking classes and earning extras degrees.

Like I said before, teaching is an important job. In my opinion it is, teaching will be here in 20 years. I say that because in 20 years it’s not like robots can teach everything we know today. Teachers can’t be a robot because robots are computers, and they only know what they have been programmed to know but they don’t know how to explain multiplication to their students. Robots can’t talk to explain anything, they wouldn’t be able to communicate with their students. All robots use is the binary code (0’s and 1’s).  Children/Students would want to talk to a real person to help with problems that might not be academic.

Mr. Linden’s Library

Back in 2014 there was a girl named Anna Grace was just a normal 15 year old in sunny Sacramento, California. She wasn’t social, so she spent her time at Mr. Linden’s Library and read books. Anna Grace had blonde hair, blue eyes, she was an only child.

Anna Grace didn’t like to be bothered. She always listened to her parents but only sometimes, a lot of times she didn’t listen to other people’s reminders. She always felt rebellious when it came to people telling what to do when they weren’t her parents. Anna Grace came home from school at 4:15 pm. She needed a book, that she had to get at the library.

She ran upstairs grabbed her jacket. She’s ready to go. She hollered to her mom that was heading out. She didn’t want her mom to go psycho about where she is. She was halfway down the block. She saw this shadow figure but she didn’t want to investigate. Anna Grace ignored the mysterious figure.

Anna Grace was at the library finally. said to Mr. Linden. “Hey!! Mr Linden!! So may you help me? I’m trying to find this special book that I need for school. Can you help me?”

“Sure thing kiddo. Want a lollipop?” replied Mr. Linden.

Anna Grace nodded.

Mr. Linden was insanely sweet , always giving out candy to his favorite people.

“Is this the book you need??” Mr. Linden said pulling out the book.

“Yes!! It’s perfect!! It’s exactly what I need. Thanks Mr. Linden!”

“No problem kiddo!! If you want you can stay after, read your book if you would like. You don’t have to if you don’t want to.”

“I rather get home. I can stay after tomorrow! If that helps!”

“Okay!! I’m not offended. Also be awa- never mind. I warned he
r..”

She was out the door before Mr. Linden finished what he was saying. Anna Grace was halfway home when she saw another two mysterious figures but ignored it again. She hopped onto her bed. Then started to read the book.

About an hour into the book She flipped the next page, she saw 13 strange looking witches but she quickly shut the book. He had warned her about the book. Now it was too late. Two witches came out. The two witches were out of the book. They started to lock the door with their powers. The good witch, Stella was trying to tell Beatrice, to stop locking Anna Grace in. She just sat there in shock. Beatrice was the evil witch, she wanted to take over the whole world. Where Stella was just trying to have someone to be friends with.

“C-an I- hel-p yo-u?” She said shaking terrified.

“Yes. We need you to take us outside right Now.” replied Beatrice.

Stella nudged Beatrice with her elbow.

“Be nice Beatrice.”

Beatrice groaned, she was an evil witch. Beatrice wanted to do everything her way, she was furious. But she knew that the mission had to be done. Beatrice just went on with her mission.

Stella wasn’t mean to anyone, she just wanted to help make the world a better place. She wasn’t so sure about bringing Beatrice on the mission with her but she did anyway because Beatrice was her best friend and didn’t want to leave her alone.

Anna Grace grabbed a bag, she then put the witches inside the bag. Then walked outside then she set them down. let them fly but then Anna Grace knew she had made a huge mistake. Anna Grace was doomed. The whole world was doomed.

“WE DID IT!! WE ARE FREE AND WE WILL-” hollered Beatrice in excitement.

“BEATRICE!!!! Stop right this moment. We are not doing ANYTHING to harm California!!!” Stella screamed mad at Beatrice.

Beatrice ignored her and just flew away. Anna Grace ran after them but it was too late, they were gone into the California sky. Anna Grace was mad that she had let them fool her. She groaned.

Beatrice flew over the city and wondered. “What should I do now!!!!” Beatrice knew exactly what to do now. Beatrice dropped a bomb down into the middle of the city. Stella finally caught up to Beatrice. She was furious.
“THIS WAS NOT PART OF THE PLAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Screeched Stella.

“OH A master Doesn’t HAVE plans.”

“YOU’RE NOT A MASTER GET OVER IT!!! UGH WHY DID YOU DO THAT!!!!”

Beatrice wasn’t listening. So, Stella swooped down and put water everywhere and put the fire out. Beatrice was sitting in the air in disgust, she wasn’t happy that Stella ruined her plan to take over the world. Stella flew back to Anna Grace and sobbed.
“I’M so sorry!!!! Beatrice didn’t mean to do that.. She just wants to own the world and it be all hers!! Forgive us!!!!”

Anna Grace nodded and gave Stella a huge hug. Anna Grace was a forgiving person but she knew that they had done something that she couldn’t forgive them about. She didn’t know how to feel. The city she loved was destroyed, torn apart. She couldn’t regroup herself so she sat down, then started crying her eyes out.

“Wh-Why!! Did you have to do this!! You could’ve been a good witch Beatrice. You could have. But you didn’t that’s why witches like you shouldn’t live.” Horrifiedly Anna Grace said.

“You can’t mean that’s true!???” Screamed Stella.

Beatrice flew off mad that Anna Grace said that. No one heard from these witches in years. What happened to them you may ask?? That revolves with a mystery.

My Clear Spring Opinion

In my opinion Clear Spring Park is a negative human characteristic of Germantown because, teens and adults break the rules of the park. Children should be able to play without having other people breaking the rules.

For instincts children at Clear Spring Park should be able to be safe and know that nothing is going to happen to them. But if people are breaking the rules, children can’t know that they are safe. For an example teens and adults are using foul language and the children are gonna see these teens and adults acting that way and think that it’s okay. Also teens and adults are smoking, and one they are polluting the air and two, they are getting smoky air into these young children’s lungs.

In conclusion, I think that Clear Spring Park is a negative human characteristic of Germantown, because it makes me feel sad because everyone is getting harmed from other people and its not their fault.

Smoking Should Be Banned From Where Children Are At

Smoking should be BANNED from parks and other places where a lot of children are at, the smoke air can get into their lungs and mess with their lungs growth. Children are seeing what adults are doing and will think it’s okay. Most adults don’t realize what can happen to the children.

Most people tend to smoke at the park because, there is open space there. All the smoky air goes into children’s lungs and stops the developing of their lungs.

When children at the park and there is a smoker near these children at the park will now see an “Example” of an adult and think that smoking is okay. Then when these children get older they will think that smoking will be allowed and that it would be something good.

All the smoke at a park or anywhere there are smokers the air is nasty and isn’t clean. When children are playing in the park, there is air that isn’t fresh. We are supposed to breathe in clean fresh air, but at the park (for an example) children are breathing in unhealthy air and aren’t able to clear out the bad air.

In conclusion kids deserve clean and healthy air, not smoky, nasty air. Smoking should be banned from any place where there are children.
