My Speech

By: Abdi

Good morning Mrs.Dietz, Mrs.German, parents, teachers, daly staff, and guests, welcome to the class of 2014-2015 send-off.

Some people say that leaving elementary school is an ify-ify deal, but I think that is a big deal. When I was just a little girl, I went to a kindergarten in the Netherlands with my mom and my dad stayed home in the U.S to make sure the house stayed safe. A few years later I came back home to my dad in the U.S, and that is when I came to my first ever american school, Christa McAuliffe Elementary School. I made a few friends and some enemies, but I forgot all about them when I came to this wonderful school called Captain James Edward Daly Elementary School. My friends, Esther, Kyla, Dayanara, Amanda, Emily, Briana, Jamour, Natalya, and more have always been there for me. But I should really say thanks to my mom and dad for taking care of me and making me laugh and making sure I was on top of my school work.

Now I have a really awesome teacher named Mr.Fitzpatrick. He is the most weirdest teacher. He also takes us on the most amazing field trips, like the one to the University of Maryland and a Frederick Keys game and more. He taught me how to divide fractions, multiply decimals, and lots of more things. Mr.Fitz will always tell us if we are going to have a crazy day or tells us what happened over the weekend and something over break. But to summarize it, he is one rockin’ teacher.

When I came to Daly Elementary, I made my first friend, Morgan Mason. We became friends in a second. It all happened in first grade and I was new. The next year my friend, Briana, was always there for me. She helped me with school work I had no clue what I was supposed to do, she stood up for me when people were bullying me. In third grade, Tanvi Soni was the funniest friend I ever had. She always made me laugh. She could be strict, funny, or just plain random. 4th grade, Autumn Hardy was the most toughest friend. She will make sure the person who made me cry or sad will pay.

Over the past years, I have made a few friends. You might have heard their names earlier, but I want to point out these few people. Esther, Kyla, Dayanara, Amanda, Emily, Brianna, Jamour, Natalya, Tanvi, Morgan, and Autumn.

On the first day of school, I wondered ‘What is going to happen’, but I never knew that I was in a class full of friends. I also never knew that I would have so many memories here.

There is one more thing I want to say to my fellow classmates, look to the future and never give up. And there is one more thing I want to tell you from a writing legend,

‘You have brains in your head,

You have feet in your shoes,

You can steer yourself in any direction you choose’

-Dr.Seuss.

Thank you and have a good day.
