Raiyan’s Civil Rights movement

Civil rights are an movement  that started in 1955 still happening today. Civil Rights are a class of rights that protect individualsfreedom from governments, social organizations, and private individuals.  Rosa parks and Martin Luther King Jr were African Americans that were affected by laws that were not equal for them.  They became leader in the Civil Right movement.

Rosa parks life  was unfair because she had to give up her seat and she didn’t so she just had to go to jail. Rosa was born in February 4 1913.  Rosa parks had died in october 24 2005.  She had died in michigan detroit.

Martin luther king jr he had to go to a different school because of segregation because he was a African American .Now that he became a Civil Right leader now African American can go to which ever school they want and same with the caucasians  in America.Martin luther king jr has past away in April 4 1968.   Martin  was born in january 15 1929.   Martin died in memphis tennessee.  Martin luther king jr  had grew up in atlanta georgia.

The Montgomery Bus Boycott was took place  in 1955-1956. Rosa Parks arrest had started because of the bus boycott. The Bus boycott has started in December 1  1955 and ended in December 20 1956. The Bus boycott had happen in Alabama.  In the Bus boycott they had lost 50,000  people during the Bus boycott.

On August 28 1963 there was a speech that Martin Luther King Jr delivered called the I have a dream speech.   The i have dream speech had gathered up in Washington DC right in front of the Lincoln memorial.  MLK JR had said i have dream 8 times.  MLK JR had said the speech in front of 250,000 people.

civil Rights Activist of 1964

The civil right act of 1964 took place in July 2 1964. civil Rights Activist of 1964 was a landmark piece  that  outlawed the discrimination on your race, color, gender, religion,or national origin.  The racial segregation in schools, jobs, And general facilities that served the general public that was known as public accommodations.

All the African American  in the south had unequal rights and  African American in the North they had equal rights like MLK JR, Rosa Parks, and other civil right leaders.  The determination of Rosa Parks and MLK JR were affected when black and white people couldn’t go to the same schools and can’t go to the same jobs also they can’t go to the same restaurants either.

The Food Safety Movement

Food Safety affects everyone buying food in the United States.  Everyone wants food to be safe, and clean.  The time was 1880 when people noticed that food was not too safe.  Illnesses from food can do more than just make you sick.  Illness from food keep people from working and earning money for their families.  Because of the Food Safety movement, you can buy food for your family that is safe and clean.

Louis Pasteur inventor, scientist, microbiologist, and chemist, invented  materials and machines to make food safe.  Louis Pasteur was born on December 27, 1822, in Dole France.  Louis Pasteur is famous for discovering materials and ways to make food safe.  Louis Pasteur died in 1895 his paralysis had worsened after his stroke in 1868.  His death was September 28, 1895, in Marne’s la Coquette, France.

Louis Pasteur was not a  farmer he just makes food safe.  In 1854 Louis Pasteur was appointed professor chemistry and dean of the science faculty at the university of Lille he worked on finding problems then coming up with solutions. Louis Pasteur invented a process where bacteria could be removed by boiling and then cooling liquid.

Louis Pasteur born on December 27, 1822, in Dole France, Louis Pasteur was not a bright student when he was in Elementary School years.  He was more interested in fishing and drawing. After Louis Pasteur completed his degrees in letters and mathematical sciences, Louis Pasteur joined the most esteemed French university Ecole Normal Superior in Paris for graduation.  In 1847, Louis Pasteur completed his Doctorate of science.  Louis Pasteur was appointed at physics professor at Dijon high school.  In 1848 and later Louis Pasteur moved to the University of Strasbourg as professor of chemistry.
Louis Pasteur’s scientific and medical accomplishments include cure for rabies, anthrax, chicken cholera, and silkworm diseases.  He also contributed towards developing first vaccines and provided logical grounds for fermentation and brewing.   Louis Pasteur want’s to be able let people have the rights to food that is safe, clean, and eatable.

The refrigerator helps with food safety the refrigerator helps keep frozen veggies, meat, and desserts, and more stay frozen and it prevents frozen food from rotting and expiring.  In 1844, John Gorrie An, American doctor from Florida created a device based on Evans’ invention that would make ice in order to cool the air for yellow fever patients.

Laws are significant when it comes to food safety.  There are laws for food safety.  The law of 2006 was that people who make food and sell food at the market have to label food with the ingredients or if not you could eat something that you are allergic to or you could eat or drink something that you can’t use for your age.  People reacted good to those laws because now they know if they should be eating  that kind of food.  Not everyone reacted the same because others that are not allergic to any food don’t care about ingredients. The effect of all of is that they still put ingredients of foods, snacks, drinks, and more because of the people who have allergic reactions to food.

Because of Louis Pasteur and the food safety movement,  food at Daly Elementary in 2015 is safe and clean.  We can get in the cafeteria line and feel confident that the food we are buying is safe for us to eat.

Tobbaco Safety Movement

THE TOBACCO SAFETY MOVEMENT

Emily solorzano

the tobacco company wanted more people to continue buying cigarettes so that they can make more money. The tobacco company is not healthy for any bodies lungs and the safety department knew that  it is not ok that they can get sick and die because tobacco  it is so not good for your lungs .The safety department also knew that it is not good and why they want the people to stop smoking for their health. They can also get cancer and get sick and die! And you can loose your teeth, and even get gum disease and get really sick and might die. Also the safety department does not want people to keep smoking it is not good for your health.

1969 the congress passed  the public hoking Act( public law 91-222)the tobacco companies  did not have a cigarettes WARNING/CAUTION/DANGEROUS  on the back of the  packet.  They needed to put the label on the back of the packet.  People would know what is going on with their bodies or what will happen to their bodies Saying that the product that the are using is VERY DANGEROUS  for their health.

Cigarettes and cigars  and tobacco are Really hard for people to stop smoking.People get addicted to it and its hard for  them to stop.  Some people don’t care what will happen to their bodies. Most people don’t believe that their bodies will get heart and they can die.You can tell that  this is true because they won’t stop smoking. Smoking weed/ tobacco /cocaine /cigarettes /cigars  are very very bad for your health .Older people drop cigarettes on the ground and kids can indeed  pick them up and try to smoke them the childrens can easily die very fast  from that stuff faster than an adult and they can go to the hospital. Also people should step on the cigarettes so that kids won’t use them.OR better they should throw it away or not smoke.

In the open when you smoke you can pollute other peoples air  and  kids/ babies can get sick if someone smokes around them .Even if you throw your cigarettes in the ocean the fish can die because of the nickiteen in the cigar is poisonous and they can die from it if you throw it in the water.

When kids get older at teenager they get more curious about smoking .One day they try it and then they might like it and will want to smoke more .they will get addicted to it and smoke were people are and pollute the peoples air. The person that is smoking the cigarette might not care and will continue smoking with absolute no problem with it.

There’s a difference between buying the tobacco from the store then planting it in your yard. The difference is that when you buy the tobacco from the store is that they put more stuff in it. then when you grow it in your yard it is not so bad.

Aniyah’s Car Safety Movement

Aniyah’s Car Safety Movement

By:Aniyah Groves

November 18th 2014.

The Car Safety Movement started in the late 1950’s/1960’s and it still continues now. The car safety movement has saved lives.

When you do the safety movement thing you always need to remember to put your seatbelts on. If you don’t put on your seatbelt it is a possibility you can fly out if you get into a accident or die. So for your safety you may always put on your seatbelt so you will remain seated at all times. If you get into a accident you won’t fly out because you will be locked in you will be protected if you get into a car accident with a bus or a truck then you might fly out or the airbag might help you stay alive when we have a accident make sure that you are safe with your safety rules. The safety movement has saved million of lives in the United States of America. The person who invented seatbelts is an english engineer George  Cayley. And it began in the 19th century. In the safety and made it available to other car manufacturers for free while providing a method of limiting this movement in the event of a crash. A seatbelt functions to reduce the likelihood of death or serious injury in a traffic collision by reducing the force of secondary impacts with terior strike hazards, by keeping occupants positioned correctly for maximum effectiveness of the airbag and by preventing occupants by ejected from the vehicle rolls over. The drivers and are traveling at the same speed as the car. If the car suddenly stops or crashes. Claire Straith was the first hero of the auto car safety movement. He was the first to recognize that it was a automobiles that injured people. An accident was just the event, but it was the collision between the passengers and the inside of the car that caused the injuries. Dr Straith was a pioneer of automobile safety. He described the cranial and facial injuries created by the dashboards and windshields in case of a car crash advocated the use of seat belts. and padded dashboards. Dr.Straith gained the attention of Walter P Chrysler and the knobs and handles of the 1937 dodge.

CAR TEST DUMMIES

Car test dummies are a full scale anthropomorphic test devices that simulate the dimensions, weight proportions and articulation of the human body, and are usually instrumented to record data about the dynamic behavior of the ATD in simulated vehicle impacts. This data can include variables such as velocity of impact, crushing force, bending, folding, or torque of the body, and deceleration rates during collision for use of in car tests. The more advanced dummies are sophisticated machines designs to behave as a human body and with many sensors to record the forces of an impact; they may cost over $400,000. For the purpose of the U.S regulation and Global Technical Regulations and for clear communication in safety and seating design. Dummies carry specifically designated reference points, such as the H-point; these are also used for examples automotive design. Crash test dummies are indispensable in the development of and ergonomics in all types vehicles, from automobiles to aircraft.

AIRBAGS…

An airbag is a vehicle safety device. it is an ocTo enable screen reader support, press

occupant restraint system consisting of a flexible fabric envelope of cushion designed to inflate rapidly during an automobile collision. it’s purpose is to cushion occupants during a crash and provide protection to their when they strike interior objects such as the steering wheel or windows. Modern vehicles may contain multiple airbag modules in various side and frontal locations of the passengers seating positions, and sensors may deploy one or more airbags in a impact zone at variable rates based on the type, angle and severity of impact; the airbag is designed to only inflate in moderate to severe frontal crashes. Airbags are normally designed with intention of supplementing the protection of an occupant who is correctly restrained with a seat belt. most designs are inflated pyrotechnic means or can be operated once. Newer side-impact airbags modules consist of compressed air cylinders that are triggered in the event in a side impact vehicle impact. The first commercial designs were introduced in passengers automobiles during the 1970’s with limited success. Broad commercial adoption of airbags occurred in many markets during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s with a driver airbag, and a front passenger airbag as well on some cars; and many modern vehicles now include four or more units.

BRAKES…

A brake is a mechanical device which inhibits motion, slowing or stopping a moving object or preventing it’s motion. the rest of this article is dedicated to various to various types of vehicular brakes. most commonly brakes use friction between two surfaces pressed together to convert the kinetic energy of the moving object into heat, though others methods of energy conversions may be employed. for example regenerative braking converts much of the energy to electrical energy, which may be stored for later use. other methods convert kinetic and potential energy in such stored forms as pressurized air or pressurized oil. Eddy current brakes use magnetic fields to convert kinetic energy into electric current in the brake disc, fin , or rail, which is converted into heat. Still other braking methods even transform kinetic energy into different forms, for example by transforming the energy to rotating a flywheel. Brakes are generally applied to rotating axles or wheels, but may also take other forms such as the surface of a moving fluid (flaps deployed into water or air). some vehicles use a combination of braking mechanism, such as drag racing cars with both wheel brakes and a parachute, or airplanes with both wheel brakes and drag flaps raised into the air during landing. Since kinetic energy increases quadratically with velocity (K=mv2), an object moving at 10 m/s has 100 times as much energy as one of the same mass moving at 1 m/s, and consequently the theoretical braking distance, when braking at the traction limit, is 100 times as long. in practice, fast vehicles usually have significant

Never smoke tobacco. It is bad for you and it is really unhealthy and

just because  somebody else is smoking it doesn’t mean you could

smoke. Let them be unhealthy and you be healthy.

443,000 people died from smoking tobacco. Also 53,000 people died from secondhand smoke.

1865 by Washington James Bonsack invented the cigarette-making machine in 1881 that cigarette smoking became widespread.Your skin can also peel off from also smoking too.So be careful next time and watch what you are doing next time and you need to learn a lesson to not smoke

When you smoke cigarettes, many chemicals enter your body through your lungs. If you also smoke it will make you do bad things, and tobacco has carbindioxied in them  and carbindioxied kills you easily.Smoking causes cancer and when you also smoke your lungs would start to get

brown and unhealthy.

There is no safe tobacco product, and there is no safe level of exposure to tobacco smoke. The more you smoke, the greater your risk of disease. …. for individualized counseling, printed information, and referrals to other sources. Better information. some cigarettes have better advantages and Better health effects.like Snus smokeless tobacco: Less harmful than cigarettes, but not safe.

The Labor Movement

The Labor Movement

By: Briana

The Labor movement was started when farm workers were treated badly because they got paid horrible for the hours they worked. For example sometimes if they worked 10 hours they only got paid $2 for their work.

This is Cesar Chavez giving a speech

Cesar Estrada Chavez

A man named Cesar Estrada Chavez helped those people. Cesar Chavez was Mexican American. He was born in Yuma, Arizona on March 31, 1927. Cesar and a few other people set out to help in 1962 and founded the National farm workers association. The union got together with the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee in its first strike against grape growers in California in 1965.“The fight is never about grapes or lettuce It is always about people.” During that time volunteers fanned out across the country to try to convince stores to stop selling grapes and to convince customers to stop buying them. At the end they got many victories. Chavez was one of the important labor leaders. Chavez went on hunger strikes which is believed to have led to his death on April 23, 1993 in San Luis, Arizona.

First Labor Day

The first Labor Day was Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City, and is dedicated to the economic achievements of American workers. Matthew Maguire first proposed the holiday but others argue that it was first proposed by Peter J. McGuire. Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894. Today we celebrate Labor Day on the first Monday of September. People celebrate with parades, parties, picnics, barbecues, fireworks, displays and athletic events across the U.S.

Farm Workers

For more than a century farm workers had been denied a decent life in the fields. They have tried but failed to organize giant agribusiness farms most of the observers considered it hopeless. But by the 1960’s things began to change. In 15 years more than 50,000 farm workers were protected by the union. The Bracero program is an arrangement between the U.S and the Mexican government’s began to be law 78 in 1951.

Because of the labor movement, farm workers got more rights and now they get payed better but their working conditions aren’t the best for them.  Because of this, more work needs to be done.

Gabriel’s Movement Paper

Stop Smoking!

By:Gabriel King

Smoking started in 1607 and it still lives now in 2014. Smoking has  killed thousands of people, mostly adults. In this essay I am going to show you what will happen if you smoke.Hopefully, this might stop smokers and people who want to smoke.

Secondhand Smoke:

Secondhand smoke is the mix of the flaming tip of a cigarette and the bad oxygen exhaled by the addicted smoker. This type of smoking includes more than 5,432 chemicals. Thousands are poisonous and more than 63 can cause diseases. Did you know that since the 1960’s Surgeon General’s Report-also known as SG-said that 2.4 million adults that were not smokers died just from inhaling secondhand smoke?A few health problems inside adults contain coronary heart, chest pains, lung cancer, and stroke.

The Effect on Pregnant People:

Smoking can hurt pregnant people to. Smoking from the mother causes sudden infant death syndrome or (SIDS).Compared with inside babies, outside babies that inhale secondhand smoke are more likely to get SIDS. Also, moms that smoke before and after birth, their infants are at 3-4 times greater of the risk. Infants of moms that smoked when pregnant have smaller birth weights.Small birth weights is a straight forward path of babies dying. The weight effect is smaller if the mother smoker quits early while pregnant.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, if you do smoke, you should try to stop.If you don’t smoke but you want to, don’t. It may make you calm and make you feel better, but it can also make you do very bad things.

Malachi’s Civil Rights movement Essay

There is a law called Civil Rights in the 1920′s black people had to do the opposite that white people could do

for an example. Black people had to drink from dirty fountains and white people drank from clean fountains.

Rosa Parks 1913/2005

Rosa Parks was the first lady of Civil Rights and what she did was very brave she was on the bus she refused to give up her seat in the colored section for a white passenger and the white section  is filled.

Little Rock Nine

Were a group of African American student enrolled in little rock central high

school in 1957. Their enrollment was followed by the Little Rock Crisis, in which the students were initially prevented from the racially segregated school by Orval faubus.

Martin Luther king Jr

Was a american pastor, Activist humanitarian and African American Civil Rights movement. He is best known for his roll in the advancement of Civil Rights using non violent Civil disobedience based on his christian beliefs He was born in Michael king, but his father changed his name in the honor of the german reformer martin Luther. A baptist minister,

king became a Civil Rights activist early in his career.

Over they were allowed to go to any school also the little rock nine challenged segregation far in south america and won in conclusion the Civil. Rights movement is still a bad memory for the black.

People in the u.s because the Civil Rights movement is about black people being treated badly in a way that we don’t like for these reason martin Luther king had his speech.

The Car Safety Movement

Unsafe Or Not, Car Safety First

By: Esther

The Car Safety Movement” was a serious movement. It started in the 1870s.  People died and were injured because they didn’t have the safety that we have now. The technology that we have now is more safer than they had back then. We have invented seat belts, car seats, airbags and crash dummies,so less people will die or be injured and more people will be smiling.

Seat Belts- The seat belt supported The Car Safety Movement with a great deal of importance. The seat belt was not approved until 1983 because, the government did not know if the seat belt was safe or not . So in the amount of time they used the Mandatory Belt, for 2 entire months. You would be surprised how many people put the seat belt on “Incorrectly”. Did you know that ¾ crashes occur within 25 miles of your home? Also,VolvoBRAVO you made Car Safety one step closer to PERFECT!! This invention will help us and many years to come.

Car Seats- Car seats are a great way to make kids safer and protected in the car. Less than 30 years ago, car seats weren’t required for kids. This was estimated by 1984 only half of all children under the age of four were in car seats. The mid 1970s for children car safety was beginning to make an impact on parents and they started thinking “I don’t want my child to get hurt”. Before this invention parents used to put there kids in canvas bags. Thanks Leonard Rivkin for being a big part in Car Safety with your invention of the child seat.  This man used to own a furniture shop. How cool is that?

Air Bags- You might be wondering what an airbag is?An airbag is a soft pillow to land against, if you are ever in a car crash. Statistics reduce the risk of dying in a direct frontal crash by 30 percent. Today, some cars go beyond having dual airbags to having 6 or even 8 airbags. What an airbag wants to do is to slow the passengers speed to zero with little or no damage. You
know what John W. Hetrick you deserve a round of applause.

Crash Test Dummies-  This was made for testing out inventions in the car to see if its going to be safe to put on sale. This way companies put out SAFE products and they keep their buyers safe. The Dummy is placed inside the test vehicle and is put on the seat, then is put in the position that a regular person would be sitting in and then is tested. Samuel W. Alderson  AMAZING JOB with this and your creation. Your name will be remembered.

Ultimately… This Quote I found really meant something “Everything in life is somewhere else, and you get there in a car.”~E.B. White, One Man’s Meat, 1943 meaning that anywhere you want to go such as, to work, home, school or even a vacation you get there in a car. Everywhere you go in a car you will need Car Safety, if you want you and your family to be safe.
